Web Smart News and Upcoming Workshops

Hi everyone! It’s been about 6 months since I started Be Web Smart.  So I thought I’d update you on a few things.  Thank you to all who are reading, subscribing, following and sharing! I appreciate the support.

BlogHer Publishing Network

Featured on BlogHerAbout a month ago I joined the BlogHer Publishing Network.  BlogHer is a community of women bloggers.  The Publishing Network is part of BlogHer.  By joining the network, I’m joining over 3,000 blogs, “one of the largest and highest quality publishing networks of blogs authored by women”.  The e-mail acknowledging my application noted that it could take up to 45 days to hear back and not all blogs are accepted.   I was accepted to the network after only seven days!  Last week one of my articles was featured on BlogHer.

You may have noticed that I now have ads on my web site that come from BlogHer.  In addition to the ads, there are links to other tech-related blogs in the network.  I encourage you to click and visit these other resources.  This also means that those blogs will link back to my website from time to time.  This will help me get the word out to the many parents who need help and advice with internet safety, parental controls and related topics.

Top 25 Moms in Tech

I was nominated and then named as “One of the top 25 Tech Moms” by the Skinny Scoop website.  Skinny Scoop is a fun site to check out.     Click through and find some other great tech tips from women bloggers and tech writers.

Upcoming workshops in Exeter, NH

Be Web Smart logo in front of a classroomI’m really excited to be holding a few “Web Smart Workshops” this fall at Exeter, NH Adult Education.  This will be my first time up in front of a classroom since teaching web design at a local community college in 1999!  The workshops will be similar to the Web Smart parties that I’ve done, but in a classroom setting.  For anyone in the NH Seacoast area, you can find the information here:
